This thematic issue of Diversité urbaine examines the risk and opportunity factors associated with the use of digital technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), and their effects on issues of equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI).

It is situated in a context marked by the growing deployment of AI-based systems (AIS) across various spheres of the world of work. When these technologies are integrated into management systems that already carry inequalities, they can contribute to reproducing them, or even amplifying them (Bolukbasi et al., 2016; Zou & Schiebinger, 2018).
